The Best Indian Restaurant in Puerto Banús

One restaurant. Forty-five years on the marina. Here’s why Mumtaz is still the one.

The truth is, Indian food has been in Puerto Banús longer than most people think. It’s been a long-standing hunger for the marina crowd, with the spice, the sharing dishes, the warmth of service that good Indian restaurants do better than just about anyone. And in Puerto Banús there is one name that defines it even before most of the current restaurants in the port existed.

INDIAN · MARINA LANDMARK · SINCE 1980

Mumtaz

★★★★☆ 4.2 · (796 reviews)

Mumtaz is not just the best Indian restaurant in Puerto Banús, it is the only one and over 45 years on the marina it has earned that position. It has been feeding the port from its waterfront terrace on Muelle Salman since 1980, and a full refurbishment in 2025 means it carries none of the tiredness you’d expect from an institution of that age. The setting alone is worth it, with a front line terrace at the marina with uninterrupted views across the yachts, the kind of table you linger at long after the food is gone.

The menu runs the full gamut of what Indian cuisine does best. Butter chicken, lamb, tandoori specialities, biryani, signature curries and all cooked with experienced hands and the real spice. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are clearly available throughout, making it one of the most inclusive menus on the marina. The cocktail and wine list means it works just as well for a full evening out as it does for a focused dinner.
