The Best Spanish Restaurants in Puerto Banús

Share

It’s easy to walk around Puerto Banús and never touch a proper Spanish dish. The marina is for everyone and the international crowd means Italian, Asian and Mediterranean dominate the strip. But the Spanish restaurants are here, some in plain sight, one with a celebrity history that goes back decades and one that serves the finest Jamón Ibérico on the coast. These five are the ones worth finding for.

No. 1

★ HIDDEN GEM SPANISH FINE DINING · CELEBRITY HISTORY · SINCE 1980s

El Txoco de Luis Salinero

★★★★★ 4.7 · (421 reviews)

The best Spanish restaurant in Puerto Banús and one that most visitors walk past without knowing what is inside. El Txoco, on Plaza Marina Banús, is named after Luis Salinero, who is one of Spain’s most celebrated chefs and is covered with photographs of celebrities and tributes from diners that tell the story of a restaurant that has fed some of the most famous people to pass through the port. The cooking is serious Spanish cuisine: truffle carpaccio, tuna tartare, lamb chops, pork entrecôte, all sourced with care and made with precision. The aubergine dish has a cult following of its own. Those who discover it return every year because of it.

SPANISH TAPAS · TRADITIONAL · OUTSTANDING VALUE

Taberna CasaBlanca

★★★★½ 4.4 · (2,691 reviews)

The most reviewed Spanish restaurant in Puerto Banús and the one that the locals and return visitors come back to trip after trip. On Avenida Julio Iglesias, Taberna CasaBlanca offers traditional Spanish tapas at prices that seem impossible for the location, with croquettes, ibérico ham, prawn bao, cod in tomato sauce and they come out of the kitchen quickly, generously and consistently well. One reviewer described it as the best hidden gem in Banus. It almost is. One of the oldest Spanish kitchens on the port, open from 9am.

Hours · Daily 9:00 AM – 10:45 PM Address · Av. de Julio Iglesias, 5 Phone · +34 951 13 24 94

MUST TRY — Croquettes · Ibérico ham · Prawn bao · Cod in tomato sauce · Sangria

“It is the most incredible hidden gem in Banús! We absolutely love the place! Every dish is delicious!” — Google reviewer

SPANISH · PAELLA SPECIALIST · LUNCHTIME ONLY

Arrozante

★★★★★ 4.8 · (1,015 reviews)

Best Spanish restaurant in the Puerto Banús area and probably the best paella on the entire Costa del Sol. Arrozante at Hotel Occidental does one thing, and does it better than almost anyone: proper Spanish rice dishes, cooked fresh the traditional way, and served at lunch only. The paella de pollo, the paella de mariscos, the camarones empanados — all are outstanding. Marc from Catalonia and Francisco are mentioned time and again as staff who take real pride in what they serve. The terrace is beautiful and the kitchen is open so you can see everything being made. The 4.8 star rating over a thousand reviews is just phenomenal. Lunchtime only – don’t miss it.

Hours · Daily 1:00–4:00 PM (lunch only) Address · Av. Rotary Internacional, s/n, Hotel Occidental Puerto Banús

MUST TRY — Seafood paella · Chicken paella · Shrimp croquettes · Watch the open kitchen

“This place has a reputation to be the place to go if you want a good paella. Marc’s recommendation was just right!” — Google reviewer

“My husband and I stumbled upon this place after a boat day and were very happy. Phenomenal service and the chicken paella was very good.” — Google reviewer

JAMÓN IBÉRICO · SPANISH CHARCUTERIE · ALL-DAY

BEHER Banús

★★★★☆ 4.3 · (160 reviews)

BEHER is the only dedicated jamón Ibérico restaurant on the marina and a small, cosy spot at Plaza Marina Banús that does one thing extraordinarily well. Good Spanish charcuterie in the form of Jamón Ibérico de bellota, good coffee, and the kind of place that’s open when everyone else is still closed in the morning. It’s not a full restaurant in the traditional sense, but a place that a local would take you if they wanted to show you what the country actually tastes like. The staff are friendly and the food is of a great quality.

Hours · Mon–Thu 12:00–11:00 PM · Fri–Sat 12:00 PM–Midnight · Sun 12:00–11:00 PM Address · Plaza Marina Banús, Bloque 2, Local 2A Phone · +34 952 90 85 48

MUST TRY — Jamón Ibérico de bellota · Spanish charcuterie board · Morning coffee

“Very nice cosy place in the heart of Puerto Banús. Great quality jamón and good coffee.” — Google reviewer

“Excellent location, kitchen open all day, nice personnel, amazing food.” — Google reviewer
